Whats the difference between Early childhood education (ECE) and Child development (CD) programs?
I’d like to go back to school to get a degree to teach pre-school. Colleges have classes listed as early childhood education classes and some colleges have classes labeled child development classes. Are these interchangeable and mean the same thing? Is ECE what I want? I will go in and talk to counselors, but just thought maybe someone out there could know. Thanks.
The ECE program would have a broader emphasis. It would include some child development courses but also would include psychology, curriculum, and student teaching. You could earn a bachelor’s degree in either one at some colleges. A tech college or junior college would give you an Associates degree (a 2-year degree) and that would be enough for almost any preschool that is not part of a public school.
What can you do with a degree in Child Development?
I love working with kids and I’m considering majoring in social work or child development. I’m not too sure yet. I want to know what types of job you can get with a degree in Child Development.
You might want to look at a joint or dual degree in the two. They are very complementary if you want to work with young children but don’t want to do pre-school or Kindergraden teaching. DA
What are the potential problems of having a child genius?
I am writing a paper for my psychology class and need some ideas for this topic, thanks.

Lol let me at least try..
ok let me see….umm they can call you stupid, and think they know it all. they can think of you as their inferior.
How does child support work in the Netherlands?
Does anyone have any idea how this works – the child is now 18 (nearly 19), finished High School last year, working, still living with the mother BUT intending to continue education after a year off. So, how does child support work in this case? Does it stop altogether because the child is now working, or does it stop for a year and then continue again once the child goes to college, or does it just continue regardless?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Also – if it does continue, then should it now paid to the child? Or does it still paid to the mother?
As soon as someone is 18, it’s ‘technically’ responsible for him-/herself. When you decide to go work, you won’t be able to expect any form of support, (maybe ‘zorgtoeslag’ if you earn (very) little money.
When you, after a year off, decide to go and study, you will be able to accept study financing just like anyone else who does the study, as long as you don’t get paid from an other country as well, and you study in the Netherlands or in ‘border regions’.
All money paid for study financing or health care by governmental organisations will be paid to the person who will have to ‘organise’ it, so the child will receive it.
And for Arjen, the IB-Groep doesn’t (officially) exist anymore. It’s now called DUO (Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs)
