How do you compensate for "middle-child bad behavior"?

My four year old is the middle child and the older he gets, the "worse" he gets in teasing his younger sister AND not listening. Do I "baby" him more? He gets an equal amount of attention as the other two but just "won’t give it up".

I have never had that problem before. Is it just his temperment? Perhaps try to praise the injured one for a while.

Oh "baby name here" I see that he hit you and your head is hurt, but you are handling it very well, lets gets you an ice pack…

Oh "baby name here" I think he didn’t mean to grab that and he was trying to share with you… Lets find some other toy.

After a while he will not like that the other one is getting all the positive praise and he is not getting any attention (because negative attention is still attention) and will start to act better. When he does praise him for being good. :)

it’s worth a shot.

Early child education…

what are the requirements to be a kindergarten/pre-school teacher in vancouver, Canada? what kinds of degree or certificates do I need? and where can I find those programs?

thank you

ok well with an ECE diploma u can teach up to kindergarted…HOWEVER because u have not gone thru the university process u may not be payed what a normal teacher would be payed, but instead be payed what someone working in a daycare would be. depends on the establishment.
algonquin college has ECE im sure u can find others online.
if u are worried about taking ur ece and still possibly wanting to go further u will need to get a bachelor of arts, and then go for teachers college, which is what i am in the process of doing right now
good luck

How can I get a Child Development Diploma?

I was wondering how could I get a early child development diploma, or a certificate in early child development. Could i go to a community college to do this.

And could i be able to open my own daycare center having a diploma in early child development?

Many community colleges offer an associates in child development. If you want a bachelors, you might have to major in something else such as Human Development and Family Sciences with a minor in Child Development.

Depending on the university they may offer a major in Child Development.

The local Community College here offers it as an Associates degree.

Good luck!

Genius child loves to run back and forth?

I have a 9.5 year old son. He is very intelligent / borderline genius according to some tests we have given. He is socially pleasant and makes friends easily. He has gluten / wheat allergy that could be celiac disease, but we did not get a final diagnosis. He is healthy now, but has struggled with gross motor skills (sports) / and certain visual processing / memory (math facts).

One of my biggest concerns at the moment is that given a choice, he would run back and forth between two objects (about 10 feet apart) for hours. Seriously. Give him a toy, he will not be interested. He will go and run back and forth. He has been doing this for years and now he is almost 10! What is going on and what should I do? I can’t imagine this will be a good thing when he is 18!

Do reasearch on Pervasive Developmental Disorders.

Although he is quite intelligent, he could fit into the autistic spectrum range.

Lending to the fact that he is also in the age range of the sudden surge of children with autism (some say from the thimerosol preservatives in vaccines).

Some cases of autism are hard to diagnose and the children will have typical behavior but one or two charactaristics will lead to P.D.D.

The common stigma attached to autism is that the children are like Rain Man (Rain Man in fact was an example of Savant’s and not autism). Children with autism are generally in a higher intellectual range than their peers.

My son has autism, he’s ten years old and he paces back and forth when he’s happy. He never engaged in imaginary play (like making dolls dance or talk to each other), he has to go to occupational therapy to sharpen his gross motor skills and math homework was always like a war around here. If your son also makes unusual noises, like hissing or other sounds that’s another key indicator.

Many autistic children have gluten and casien allergies.

If we were in a clinical setting and you told me what you just said, I would administer a Gilliams Autism Rating Scale because even with the limited information you gave me, I would be willing to lay money on Autism.

I wouldn’t normally do this, but if you want to talk about it further, my email is: belovedharpy@yahoo.com

How does a child become a good disciple?

So many people are questioning this act of child abuse. These are true methods of child rearing. Valuable insight is obtained from this cause-and-effect ideology. When will people draw the line: no more labeling every act of child inclusive behavior as "abuse"?
Should I strike the child for not feeding the dog; but, only for keeping with a child’s wishes to be a zookeeper? Therefore, not to smack the future cop for failing to pick-up the shell casings.
Actually..;.. I liked each response. A concerned reader can learn something about one’s ownself, motivation, contradiction, and absolutely nothing-at-all. I will select a response that best suits accountability.
