i plan to become a preschool teacher. What others requirements must i get to be a teacher in baltimore county(MD) like do i have to take any type of test test? I am already a license child care provider have been one for 3 three years now. I just need help figuring out what other requirements must i get.. if your a teacher.. dint matter from what state please help me…. my own professors dint even help this will be valuable information.. as a teacher after i get the degree what other things must i do i already have the work experience of working with children but what else do i need…………….thanks.
I am license as a daycare provider already so obtaining a certificate would be useless. I want to teach preschool, I have 11 credits left until i graduate, just need to know what steps to take after i graduate to start working in the class room beside applying to work for that school do i need to take any type of state test?

In many states you will have to complete a teacher preperation program which takes 1 year initially and often 3-5 additional classes within the first few years you teach. You will likely have to take several exams to gain entrance to the program and earn the appropriate certifications for your teaching license.

I hate to discourage you a little bit. But, you are likely 40-50 units away. Not 11.

I am a preschool teacher in an integrated childcare centre, and I have a child with autism in my class. I have never worked closely with a child with autism before, and he seems to have trouble managing his behaviour. He mainly hits, kicks, and pushes the other children. What strategies can I use to help him learn other methods of expressing his upset with the other children?

I would use a social story with him…..they are simple short stories that help the child learn to self monitor his behavior. I would also try a token system of reinforcement, something that you can show him easily and discreetly to let him know that he is displaying appropriate behavior, keeping hands and feet to self, for a small discreet reward. If he does start to have a tantrum or start to display negative behaviors and can’t calm down try removing him from the situation, and letting him have a small area, "break room" where he can deal with his frustrations. hope this helps, i included links for information on social stories.

I am pondering the idea of becoming a preschool teacher or someone who works in a daycare center and I want to know which one of these degrees leads to teacher certification and also if teacher certification is even necessary to teach as a preschool teacher or at a daycare center? thanks for your help!!

If you want to work in a daycare as a lead pre-school teacher you normally just have to have experience working with children but a CDA from a college is more desirable to the employer. CDA’s usually takes about a year or less to complete and if you’re lucky, the employer will pay for it.

As far as a BA in teaching is concerned, that’s usually the only way you qualify to teach in public and private schools. In Texas, you need a teaching degree to teach pre-school through12th grade.

What is the difference? If there is any? I am trying to figure out which local college I can go to starting in January..I want to become a preschool teacher and I was told I need to take early childhood education..is child care service the same thing!?

no they are not the same. a preschool teacher teaches in a learning/ school environment ,
a child care service provider is a qualified/ certified baby sitter & can provide this service at an in home environment.*

I am going to be taking a child development program to get certified to work at private daycares or as a private school preschool teacher. What should I expect in the classes? Is there alot of test ,is it fairly easy? What does the work consist of, is it mostly book work or hands on?

There its great. you will love it. you need to be dedicated to your assignments tho otherwise you dont keep up. Basically you will do a practicall experience in a school or nursery some days and college the other days. when we was in college we used to practice making activities, displays etc. We even played in sand and water.
